I moved in with Scott in late February, and we "blended" our families of cats and rabbits. Basically, what that means is that the rabbits are confined most days to the Purple Room while the cats have free reign of the house. But there are times that, supervised, we let them play together. For the most part, the cats ignore the rabbits and the rabbits ignore the cats. For instance, here is a picture of Berf ignoring the rabbits as they play outdoors: And also a picture of the rabbits ignoring Berf's presence in the Purple Room: Of course, we have no pictures of the times that Berf imitated the rabbits standing upon their hind legs begging for yoghurt berry drops and then Berf not liking yoghurt berry drop. But we do, at least, have this picture of Dorcas whispering sweet nothings in Gus's ear: And Whale, poor cross-eyed deary that she is, carefully studying Maddie as Maddie masters the uncarpeted and slippery steps to the Purple Room:
Whale has continued to study the rabbits with great curiosity, even when sotted on catnip:
Jemimah was completely nonplussed by the drunken behavior of the sotted cats.
The whole dynamic of the house was about to change, and little did we realize it: Audrey got sick with feline leukemia and was to be quarantined in the rabbit room. Here are some pictures of Audrey at the vet's, with Scott:
WHen Audrey got sick, we thought that we would be bringing her home to live with the three rabbits in the Rabbit Room, but instead, she died at the vet's, just as we were arriving to take her home with us. We buried her out back with the other cats, and Scott placed the sole rose from Minnie's rose bush on the grave:
